Can you tell us a little about your latest movie ‘The Summoning’, and how the story come about?
‘The Summoning’ is a horror thriller feature film. It centers around a young lady who is living in a house where there is a lot of paranormal activity going on. The young lady (played by Leila Almas) sets out to figure out what’s going on, and stumbles on an unsolved murder mystery.

What drove you to executive producing this movie?
So, I didn’t technically executive produce this one. I guess you could label me as an investor if you like. I got involved because I read the script and it gave me chills. It captivated me. I liked the subject matter, I liked the story and I wanted to be involved at some capacity. I was lucky enough to be given a shot.

How did you find the producing process?
Producing is interesting. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle, piecing everyone together, and it is problem solving. Every production has problems. Every production. A producer, or producer’s job, is to overcome them all no matter how big or how small, solve the problems and make it look easy! It can be anything. The lucky thing about this particular production, ‘The Summoning’ is that there were no big problems. We were really lucky. Everything was fine and came together the way it should. Very rare!

You also star in the movie. Was it hard to juggle both responsibilities on set?
No not really. I pretty much just focused on my character the moment I got onto the film set. I was in full character mode from the words – “roll sound, camera, action!” No problems at all.

It seems more and more actors are creating their own filming opportunities. Why do you think that is?
I think it is because there are so few opportunities these days. If you are not a household name, it’s very difficult to get decent size auditions or a good agent. It really is hard and downright unfair if you put in the work as an artist and a businessman and you still cannot get the opportunities to showcase your skills. I think actors are tired of waiting for people to give them a shot, they’re creating their own shot. I kind of think this is the new way of achieving in the industry. However, if you look back a lot of actors that have achieved longevity they produce their own productions. Will Smith Matt Damon Ben Affleck Tom Cruise. They all produce their own films.

Do you have any plans to produce any more projects?
Oh yes, absolutely. So long as I’m in the position to, I will produce. I have several projects in development, and I’ll be happy to share them with you when I can tell you more!
