Model Lynn Kelly stands by ‘skinny’ selfie

Model Lynn Kelly is no stranger to us, being a Former Miss Universe Ireland and successful model, Lynn is photographed in our newspapers on a daily basis.

The 26-year-old has been attacked for being “too skinny” after she posted the following image on her Instagram account.

The comments about the photo from the launch of a lingerie collection this week stunned the former Miss Ireland.

Lynn spoke to Sybil Mulcahy on today’s Midday show.

When asked about the amount of attention, she has received since posting the image the Lynn revealed, “I’m pretty much blown away, I don’t see the big deal in this. I posted up the picture on my Instagram and twitter because I feel proud of the picture, I feel like I look good in the picture. The other pictures I also posted I feel like I look good in them too, otherwise I won’t have posted them.”

“It is my personal Instagram and twitter account, so I feel like I can post whatever I like up there and if people don’t like it, I don’t really care.”

Speaking about the comments she has received from people the model said, “from people that don’t know me, the comments are quite negative, but as I said that doesn’t really bother me in the slightest, but that’s not the only comments that there are. There are comments from people who do know me, and they can vouch for me and say I am very very healthy. I eat very well, I work my ass off for my body and I really really do work very hard, I’m not naturally slim so I’m not going to apologise for it, I’m proud of my body.”

When Sybil asked Lynn if she thought now after all the comments she has received regarding the picture, did Lynn think that maybe she shouldn’t have uploaded the image or did she still stand by the picture, Lynn explained:

“I 100% stand by the picture. It is my personal account, and anyone that has left a negative comment can look at my other photographs and they’ll see I’m 100% perfectly healthy, I don’t regret it what’s-so-ever.”

Asked if Lynn would agree that models would be a role model for young women, did she feel a reasonability to send out the correct message: “to a certain degree, young girls would look up to models, but as I said if they go through any of my other pictures, a lot of them are of me in the gym working out and pictures of the meals I eat. That one picture has caused a lot of drama but I am very healthy and I’m very aware of my body and I do work very hard for it,” Lynn explained.
