Heidi Range plans West End future and rules out solo

Having spent 11 years with the girls clocking up an impressive six UK number one singles and two number one studio albums, Heidi talks about her new career on stage in an exclusive interview with MarkMeets.com

Heidi plays Pinky alongside Ben Freeman as The Fonz and Cheryl Baker as Mrs Cunningham in the new musical which has 21 new songs, many of which Heidi performs, though if you want to hear new music from the star then you will have to wait until the musical soundtrack is released.

Heidi revealed the news during an interview where she talks about her future career in showbiz. “There are no plans for any recordings at the moment though I am open to new ideas to try new things and if it was the right thing then obviously I would not turn it down”.

“”At the moment there are no plans to record””.

When asked by Mark Boardman whether she would collaborate on a track with someone like Pharrell Williams she replied: “Oh yeah!! (Laughs) and has a big grin on her face. I would love to do a collaboration, I think that would be really nice. I guess I’ll see what comes about. “

After the tour ends in July, Heidi plans to have a good holiday and “Then I really want to do a West end show, that’s my next goal-to have my name up outside a West End theatre”.

There is not one particular show Heidi would audition for next, she said: “I’ve not seen enough of the shows to know ‘That’s the role I really want to do’. There was talk of Bridget Jones happening at one point and I would love to play Bridget, I think that would be brilliant”.

She has ruled out playing Sandy in Grease saying: “I think that’s too similar to Pinky in our show ‘Happy Days’. I would wanna do something completely different to this in the next show I do. I don’t want to be doing the same type of character.”.

Heidi Range’s performance in HAPPY DAYS makes it worthy for a West End run

Heidi discusses the show which is based on the US sitcom that ran from 1974-1984.
Happy Days finished one year after you were born, how much did you know of the show?
“I know the show from growing up and seeing it on repeats, but it was always one of them shows that was always seen to be on”. “I did know the show but I hadn’t watched it religiously, Like Cheryl (Baker) had as she grew up watching it.

Did you have a crush on the Fonz?
He was definitely cool! I think I was too young to have fancied him but I did think he was cool yeah. If I have off been a bit older at the time then I might have had. (Laughs).

Can you tell me about Pinky Tuscadero?
I guess in the way Fonzie is older than the other guys and they look up to him, Pinky is like that for the girls. She’s a bit older and a motorbike rider. She is also feisty, sassy and she puts Fonzie in his place.

Heidi Range is so likable as Pinky

What would you do if you could spend a day in the mid-1950s to mid-1960s?
Was Sinatra around then?
Yeah.
I would have gone to watch Sinatra live. I would have loved to had seen him.

Has your cooking improved since Celebrity Masterchef ?
Yes! My cooking is good. I just like cooking with a recipe book and to be able to phone someone and check if I am doing everything right. At the moment I am not doing much cooking at all because I am only home one day a week, so every day I go out for lunch instead of cooking buy yes I am a good cook.

You were on Dancing On Ice in 2012 when I though the judges were a little harsh.
Ahhhhh, thank you.
How often do you Ice skate now?
It’s something I like to do now at Christmas. Have a mulled wine and go round a rink with a big tree and fairy lights. I go to the winter wonderland every xmas, every year. That’s as far as the skating goes.
