In China, the superhero epic pulled in $20 million on Friday and an additional $22 million on Saturday, notching a new record for the studio’s biggest launch in the territory. U.K. viewers generated $9 million on Friday, the territory’s biggest opening day of 2016 so far. India also set a new WB record with $2.5 million, the studio’s biggest opening day in the country.

Japan saw an impressive opening of $1.2 million on 718 screens, surpassing openings for both “Man of Steel” and “Dark Knight Rises.”

Mexico brought in another $4.3 million from 3,800 screens Friday (battling a national soccer game for audience attention), bringing the country’s cume to $9.6 million.

“Batman v Superman” is dominating the stateside box office as well, having picked up $82 million on its opening day. This brings the worldwide cumulative gross past $200 million. The film should end the weekend with a U.S. total around $170 million, despite less-than-stellar reviews. Some of the film’s actors are taking the film’s negative critical reception better than others.
