During an appearance ‘The Tonight Show’, while promoting a recently published graphic novel version of Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino revealed he will be doing a Western again, but not a sequel to the Best Picture nominated Western of 2012.
The writer-director said: I can’t talk that much about it, but I will say one thing. I haven’t told anyone about this publicly, but I will say the genre. It’s a Western. It’s not a ‘Django’ sequel, but it’s another Western, and the thing is I had so much fun doing ‘Django’ and I love Westerns so much, that after I taught myself how to make one, it’s like ‘well okay, now let me make another one now I know what I’m doing.’
Tarantino had previously teased the prospect of making a trilogy out of his ‘rewritten history’ films, and he also talked about wanting to make a 1920s gangster movie. Furthermore, there’s Killer Crow, which would focus on a group of black soldiers who go AWOL in 1944 after the invasion of Normandy. But, if he’s determined to return to the Western, it will put these projects on the backburner. As for Kill Bill: Vol. 3, there’s no sign he’ll bring it back from the dead.
I guess we’ll have to wait while other details emerge about the project to find out.
