Rita Ora lands fourth No. 1 UK single

Rita Ora has notched up her fourth chart-topping single with her latest release ‘I Will Never Let You Down’.

Rita enjoyed three visits to the No. 1 spot in 2012 in the form of a collaboration with DJ Fresh on ‘Hot Right Now’, ‘R.I.P.’ featuring Tinie Tempah and ‘How We Do (Party)’.

‘I Will Never Let You Down’’s chart placing now ties Rita Ora with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell as the UK female artists with the most solo No. 1 singles.

Last week’s No. 1, ‘Wavves’, by Mr Probz has now dropped to No. 2. The rest of this week’s top five is made up by John Legend’s ‘All Of Me’ up one to No. 3, Calvin Harris’ ‘Summer’ down two to No. 4 and Kiezsa’s ‘Hideaway’ down two to No. 5.

Other than Rita Ora’s No. 1 debut, other new entries to this week’s chart come from 5 Seconds of Summer at No. 19 with ‘Good Girls’, Ed Sheeran’s ‘One’ has made it to No. 20 just 48 hours after being released, Janoskians’ ‘Real Girls Eat Cake’ at No. 37 and Twista’s ‘Hope’ featuring Faith Evans at No. 39.

After last week’s Eurovision Song Contest a number of contestants have now appeared in the UK singles chart.

Austria’s winner Conchita Wurst is the second-highest new entry to the chart as ‘Fly Like A Phoenix’ soars to No. 17. This week’s highest climber comes from the Dutch runners up The Common Linnets with their track ‘Calm After The Storm’ rising 86 places to No. 9. Sweden’s Sanna Nielsen ‘Undo’ has also charted at No. 40.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Xscape’ debuts at the top of the UK album chart

Michael Jackson has rocketed to the top of the UK album chart once again with a new posthumous collection titled ‘Xscape’.

‘Xscape’ is the late pop star’s second album of previously unheard material to be released since his death in June 2009. ‘Xscape’ has fared better than 2010’s ‘Michael’ which peaked at No. 4 and gives the ‘Thriller’ star his tenth chart-topping LP.

This week’s top five features two further new entries. The Black Keys have achieved their highest charting UK album to date with ‘Turn Blue’ debuting at No. 2. Paloma Faith is up one to No. 3 with ‘A Perfect Contradiction’, Paolo Nutini’s ‘Caustic Love’ is down one to No. 4 and British singer Foxes is new at No. 5 with her debut album ‘Glorious’.
