Cole left The X Factor in 2010, before signing up to be a judge on the US version of the show only to be dropped by Cowell from the programme just weeks later.

Sources say that Simon may even be considering having Cheryl back on the UK judging panel.

An insider is quoted as saying: “Simon wants Cheryl to join him on the judging panel again. He regards the two of them as the dream team.

“The years they did the show together were hugely successful and Simon thinks that they could have an amazing comeback together.”

Simon has always been incredibly fond of Cheryl. Crucially, she also attracts headlines and will get people talking about the X Factor again.’

If Cheryl was to return to the programme, it is believed that she would be joined on the panel by Simon himself, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

However, Cheryl is understood not to have made a firm decision on a possible return, and is still ‘in talks’ with ITV about the specifics.

Our showbiz news source added: “It’s still very early days though, so nothing is set in stone. At the moment talks are ongoing while Simon focuses on the remainder of the year.”

Cheryl has been enjoying a quiet few months following the end of the Girls Aloud reunion tour earlier this year.

But things haven’t been quite so quiet in her personal life, as she recently split from her dancer beau Tre Holloway.

A a spokesperson for Cheryl Cole denied the claims and said there have been no discussions.

Chezza’s rep as always denies everything.
