Westlife stars Kian and Nicky class of money

King of the jungle Kian and fellow former Westlife star Nicky Byrne growing rift over money and fame has hit former boyband Westlife after Kian’s £100k I’m A Celebrity jackpot stirs up trouble.

Despite the singers collective wealth of many millions, the Irish singers, who split in 2011, have seen their friendships hit rock bottom after arguments over public appearances and drastically different financial payouts.

Westlife Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne
I’m A Celebrity winner Kian Egan, 33, recently bagged £100,000 to appear on the ITV series while bandmate Nicky Byrne, 35, received just £25,000 to tread the boards on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing last year.

Our insider revealed: “Since the split there has been a lot of bad blood between the boys over their careers.

“Nicky was angry and hurt by the difference in their payouts as it creates an unhealthy competition among them. He wonders why Kian is worth so much more than he is.”

Nicky eventually bagged £60,000 for his Strictly performance as a bonus for making the semi-finals – but he still walked away with £40,000 less than his pal, who was crowned King of the Jungle.

Westlife star Shane Filan, 34, is going head-to-head against bandmate Mark Feehily, 33, with their first solo albums. Shane released his album You And Me last month with his single hitting No.14 in the UK charts.

Mark is set to release his album in early 2014 and insiders say he is determined to take the crown as the band’s most successful solo artist. A source said: “Mark is hoping for big things next year and if it means casting a dark cloud over Shane’s career then so be it.”

Shane is still struggling to recover from a devastating financial crisis after his property development company failed last year, forcing him to declare bankruptcy with debts said to be around £18million.

The dad-of-three said: “You realise afterwards that you’re not the only one, everybody has financial troubles. But I still have my wife Gillian, I still have my kids, I still have my voice.”

The band’s 14-year career saw them sell 50million records including 14 chart-topping singles in the UK.

An insider said: “It’s very sad to see such animosity between them after so many years of success and friendship but things change. They’re barely speaking. They’re all looking out for number one now.”
