Paloma Faith talks about The Voice UK

Award winning singer and new coach on The Voice UK Paloma Faith has said that she fears making a fool of herself on the show and will not be bullied by trolls.

Whilst the audition stages have already been pre-recorded meaning that any mishaps or slip ups can be edited out, the live shows are fast approaching though ratings last weekend were only at 7.1m.

Paloma, who is new to this year’s series alongside Boy George, confessed: “I get anxiety. I talk to George a lot and ask ‘Oh, what did we say?’ because we both speak before we’ve thought about it.

The 34 year-old said “Sometimes he comes up to me after and says ‘What did I say? Did I say anything funny? Or did I say anything off? How did that come across?’”

She added: “My mum is scared about me doing the show because she’s protective and she’s worried. She loves me. She wants to protect me and stuff.

“She’s always scared of me putting my foot in it. She says ‘You’re no good for my nerves, Paloma’.”

Paloma revealed she would not return to the show if the abuse got too much online.

“If every day from the first show is a barrage of abuse on social media and in letter form then of course I’m not going to do it,” the Upside Down hitmaker told the Daily Star.

ITV are taking ovre the show next year though there is no news if Ricky Wilson, Paloma Faith, Boy George or Will.i.am will return.

The Voice returns to BBC1 this Saturday.
