The Strictly Come Dancing judges are set to face either a pay cut or pay freeze by the BBC this year.

Whether all four judges will be back is another matter. Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli Craig Revel-Horwood and Darcey Bussell were all part of the last successfuly series that saw ratings peak, though as so far nothing has been officially confirmed.

If they’re all back, it’ll be at least the second year in a row the panel has had their fees kept the same, although it’s not as if they’re being paid a pittance.

According to the Mirror, a review by the BBC Trust is looking at whether or not the current £200 million spend by the Beeb on its talent is worth it.

It’s currently understood that of the Strictly judges, Len is getting paid £150,000 a year, Bruno and Craig both £110,000 and newcomer Darcey £100,000.

Former host Sir Bruce Forsyth – who stood down from the show last month – was said to be getting paid £500,000 a year to present the series and its one-off specials.

But his replacement – rumoured to be Claudia Winkleman – shouldn’t expect to get anything near that amount.

A spokeswoman for the BBC said of the spending review: “The aim is to look at the overall strategy and whether it is the right one based on information about the market the BBC is operating in.”
