Mutli-award winning artist Gio to release new music into the UK

Australian musician Gio (former stage name Gian) already has many accolades to his name, including Best Artist at the ABC Music Awards, Best male Vocalist (ABC Music awards), Broadcasters Choice (ABC Music Awards), APRA Songwriter of the Year, and Best Instrumental Artist In Australia at the MusicOz Awards. Now he is set to grace British soil with his brand new track Computer Games.

“Gio’s voice and passion for music make him one of our – One’s to watch'” – Mark Boardman (Music Journalist).

What do you love at British music?
I really love the unique approach to british music especially how it affects production in music and how it shapes music. I’m a fan of Mark Ronson and love his unique sound and approach to samples and the soundscapes he creates.I also really love Ed Sheeran, his pop sensibility and great songwriting shows how versatile he is
an as artist.I love how edgy and innovative British music is generally and how open the publics ears are to new music.- hint hint……

If you could have your single ‘Computer Games’ as a backing track on any TV show from the past decade til present day, which would you choose and why?
Wow that’s a hard one. It is such a fun and infectious song, so it would have to be something fun to watch. I will say the “Simpsons” because it is such a great show that appeals to every age group and is timeless. Art is
mean’t to make you feel something and no matter how many times you see an episode you can’t help but feel good. I hope no matter how many times you hear my single you will want to press the repeat button.

Do you have an artist you would like to work with?
I could make a huge list here. I know this may sound cliche but I have been a fan of “Pharrell Williams” production before “Nerd” and he just keeps getting better and better and would be insane to create with.
“Prince”, the guy is a musical genius and no one can deny he can do it all – play, songwrite, perform plus he has had an amazing career. ” Michael Jackson – this may be a little hard to do now. “Andre 3000” – his music is so
different and original I think he is a creative genius. Lastly “Paul McCartney” who wouldn’t want to work with one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Sorry but I did say it was a long list.

What is next for Gio?
I have so many incredible things coming up with the release of “Computer Games” I’ll be playing a lot of gigs in both Australia and Europe and finishing the rest of the album at Abbey Road Studios. I’m really looking forward to be performing at festivals next year in Europe so you will have to listen out for what happens next……….

Gio’s unique mixture of soul fuelled pop vocals streaked with virtuosic Spanish influenced guitar playing is what has made him stand out and given him the chance to share the stage with legendary artists Sheila E, Grammy nominated songwriter and producer Paul Pederson (Prince, The Corrs, George Benson), Ricky Pederson (John Mayer, George Benson), blues legend Eric Bibb, recently with Academy Award winner Russell Crowe and Australian music legend Marcia Hines in their latest music video Remedy.

Gio

Born in Australia to a German mother and an Italian father Gio grew up listening to an eclectic mix of music largely revolving around his parents’ love for world music and gospel and soul, all whilst growing up in the MTV generation of Michael Jackson and Prince. Now this Australian has formed a sound all of his own, has 14 years of performance both in Australia and Europe under his belt, and is about to explode into the music scene in the UK with his song Computer Games to be released later this year.

Gio’s distinctive sound and style is now being introduced to the UK music scene having recently secured a major recording and publishing deal with FAME Music.

This will commence with the infectious hit single ‘Computer Games’, produced by music producer Tom Misner, which will be released in late 2014.
