“In light of the tragedy in Paris, we have canceled our scheduled film events,” they wrote in the statement, which was released to MarkMeets. “Further, we stand with the people of Paris and our thoughts go out to all those affected by these horrible events.”

Spielberg had been traveling from Berlin in Germany to Paris when a wave of terrorist attacks erupted in the French city. The director was in Berlin for Friday’s premiere of the Cold War thriller, which stars Hanks as real-life lawyer James B. Donovan, who helped negotiate the release of a pilot of a spy plane that was shot down by the Russians.

Armed terrorists targeted several locations around Paris with suicide bombs and machine guns on Friday, killing more than 120 people.

Concert-goers were taken hostage at the Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan venue in the city, with reports suggesting that more than 80 people were killed at the concert hall.
