Kimberley, who is currently competing in rival series Strictly Come Dancing, claimed that The X Factor was missing the Geordie singer.
This year has seen the X Factor’s ratings plummet, with Strictly ahead by over two million viewers on Saturday nights.
“I think it misses Cheryl. She was brilliant on it and I think she’s missed. She and Simon were very amusing to watch. It was a good chemistry and I think that is missed,” Kimberley said.
The Girls Aloud star, who had been linked to a role on the Xtra Factor back in 2010, continued: “The whole line-up of judges has changed over the years and the time Cheryl was involved was a great time for the show. There were some great winners and it was all about the talent.”
Naturally, Kimberley now reckons Strictly is by far the better show now.
The Bradford beauty, who scored 34 points from the judges on the BBC One series last night, said: “I am obviously going to say Strictly is better than X Factor this year.
“It feels like a really great series, not only from being a viewer before but a lot of the professional dancers have said that. Hopefully, that’s coming across on TV.”
She explained: “The thing about Strictly is it is so happy. It’s a warm show and people have embraced it. People want escapism, they want to be happy, and The X Factor is a lot more serious. It is people’s lives at stake and it does really matter if people go.
“But I haven’t been able to watch it much this year, obviously – I’ve been a bit busy.”
The X Factor 2012 continues tonight on ITV1 and ITV1HD with Sunday’s results show, one more act get the axe, and there will be performances from Rhianna and Bruno Mars.
Strictly Come Dancing 2012 continues tonight with the latest Strictly results show on BBC at 1925
