Today Alexandra releases RENEGADE, a five-track free download EP, through her website.

Make no mistake about it, ‘the boss’ is back in the boxing ring and the gloves are firmly off.

“My music, my rules” says Alexandra.

She is the self-made British success story. A breast cancer scare in 2010 saw Alexandra vow to grab life by the reigns and she’s back and fiercer than ever with her most candid body of work yet. There have been break-ups and bust ups but the young star has proven that she can overcome just about anything.

With the new revamped image comes a new sound, the EP showcases an amalgamation of unapologetic lyrics on topics Alexandra has never spoken about before – until now. Stronger than ever, the Islington born star steps into new urban territory and brings unexpected hip-hop flows and a fearless approach to her latest project. This is Alexandra Burke as you have never heard her before.

RENEGADE shows five distinct flavours of Alexandra’s new musical direction, firmly rooted in slick, urban beats and honest lyrics. The no holds barred EP sees Alexandra turn from singer to storyteller as she makes it clear that she is ready to tell her story.

‘Renegade’ music video:

‘Ain’t That Right’, Alexandra blows the lid off rumours surrounding her personal and professional life – a fiery reminder that she is very much back in the driving seat, this is an EP fuelled by empowerment and life lessons.

Where ‘Ain’t That Right’ hears Alexandra work a yin-and-yang fusion of classic big vocals with a furious rap flow, the title track operates on a clear mission of muscly urban beats and rebellious lyrics.

‘Go Down’ featuring Shakka is a provocative R&B mid-tempo that hears the 26-year old singer embrace her sexuality. The track premiered on DJ Target’s BBC Radio 1 Xtra in March to rave reviews. Shakka is famed for his collaboration with Wretch 32 on the hit single ‘Blackout’.

Elsewhere, ‘Don’t Make It Easy’ boasts perforating beats. Strikingly sexy, the song combines her sensual lyrics with her seductive vocal.

On ‘Hall of Fame’, Alexandra proves that when all is said and done she is just an outstanding vocalist. The track is reminiscent of her platinum-selling hit ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘The Silence’. A perfect blend of Burke’s acclaimed ballad style and her own personal story.

Despite her taking time out to mastermind the new EP, Alexandra has never been far from the stage. 2014 saw her taking on the prestigious role of Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard and she returns to the acclaimed show this year as she performs on The Bodyguard Tour.

Alexandra Burke released two studio albums, two EPs and scored six UK Top 10 singles – three of which were #1 hits including ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Bad Boys’ featuring Flo Rida. Alexandra has collaborated with top songwriters and producers in the industry including Stargate (Rihanna), Rico Love (Kelly Rowland), Ne-Yo, RedOne (Lady Gaga) and DJ Erick Morillo.
