Joseph Gordon-Levitt still wants to star in Guys and Dolls remake

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has revealed he and Channing Tatum have been discussing collaborating on a musical together “for years” now.

In 2013 rumours emerged the Hollywood A-listers were both in the running to star in a Guys and Dolls remake.

But in a fresh interview with mtv, Joseph stated the Guys and Dolls rehash is “probably not” going to happen.

“Chan and I have talked about wanting to do a musical,” Joseph said. “For years, we’ve talked about doing that. Hopefully one day we get off of our collective a*ses and do it.”

Joseph expressed although Guys and Dolls is not really on the table any longer, the pair are focused on doing a musical together anyway.

He is convinced whatever they produce will be great entertainment.

“It would be brilliant,” Joseph gushed.

Channing has previously outlined why he believes a musical is the strongest format for a collaboration with Joseph.

The Magic Mike star is quite a good dancer, but Joseph has a better ear for harmony.

“We’ve been trying to figure out the perfect thing for us to jump in the pool together in. We both love music and big [dance] musicals. … Joe came to me with Guys and Dolls and he’s more of a musician than I am so I’m going to let him start cooking it up and then we’ll see where it goes from there,” Channing said back in 2013. “There’s no script, there’s no director [for Guys and Dolls].

It was literally an idea that Joe had and I was like, ‘Yeah, man, I’m down.’ He’s kind of away right now trying to cook up what the music could be and if he can fall in love with the music then we’ll do the movie but other than that it’s not a real project.”
