BGT stars Bars and Melody send ‘Hope’ up the charts

Britain’s Got Talent 2014 contestants Bars and Melody have sent Twista and Faith Evans’ Hope flying up the chairs.

Charlie, 15 from Bristol and Leondre, 13 from Wales make up BAM and wowed the judging line up with their own version of the track on the show last night, which included an original rap about their past experiences of bullying.

Alesha Dixon, who was moved to tears by the performance, told the teenagers: “The minute you started that verse it brought a tear to my eye. It was really, really moving.”

Simon told the musical pair: “I’ve heard some monstrous songs today and I was literally losing the will to live.

“You know what, I listened to every word. Did this stuff happen in your life? I think that record could be a hit. I really, really like you two.”

The original song was first released in 2005 where it reached Number 25 in the charts here in the UK.

Bars and Melody are managed by Blair and have previously been considered for our featured artist.

But after being performed by Bars and Melody on last night’s show, the track has already shot up into the iTunes downloads charts, currently sitting in the Top 50.

Britain’s Got Talent continues next Saturday night on ITV.
