Coldplay to make History at Glastonbury 2016

The announcement comes from Coldplay’s Half Time show at the Super Bowl on the 7th February. During this performance they played their greatest hits from the past 20 years and also were joined by Beyonce and Bruno Mars on stage.

The band has recently scored their 7th UK Number One in the album chart with ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’. They have now topped the chart with every single one of their albums they have released.

The London group who formed back in 1996, will also be making history, becoming the first artists to Headline the Festival, set in the countryside of Somerset, for the forth occasion. The band has headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2002, 2005, and 2011. In 2011, BBC radio listeners voted their set as the Top Glastonbury Moment of the Festivals long history.

This will be the bands only festival headline show during their A Head Full Of Dreams Tour for 2016.

They are the second group to be announced to play for Sunday following earlier in February that Jeff Lynne’s ELO have been confirmed for the Sunday Legends slot.

Glastonbury takes place in Somerset on the 24-26 June.
