Sophie Ellis Bextor and The Feeling to perform at The Priory Park Festival 2016

Chichester and Festival, two words that naturally go together. But now for the very first time, another string to that town’s illustrious bow. A proper three-day music Festival….The Original Priory Park Festival.

The Priory Park Festival takes place on 8th, 9th and 10th July and promises to be a standout gem in an elsewhere crowded festival calendar. It will also fill a long overdue gap in Chichester’s own festival month.

The Feeling

Priory Park is a different sort of festival.

It blends the best elements of a village fete with a food fair, literary weekend and a great and diverse range of music. Many of the musicians come from Sussex with artists from Chichester and Brighton in particular topping the bill. A lovely local feel with a widespread appeal. An eclectic weekend of Music, Food and the Arts.

Among those performing over the weekend are Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Feeling, Seth Lakeman, Zoe Rahman, Courtney Pine, Paul Jones and The Manfreds, Martin Simpson, The Monochrome Set, Ryan Burnett, the Hounds Of Love featuring Lisa Abbott and over 20 other bands and artists.

There are at least two stand out sets already in store. Multi-platinum selling Sophie Ellis Bextor has promised an exclusive preview of tracks from her yet to be released album ‘Familia’ along with an extended dance mix of hits. Courtney Pine and Zoe Rahman combine for their ground breaking ‘Song (the Ballad Book)’ which is issued this week and has already received five star reviews with the Guardian calling it “unsurpassed virtuousity”. Piano virtuoso Zoe is a native of Chichester.

Poets, painters and performance artists add to the heady mix while kids’ entertainment and a Healthy Living zone are also part of the parcel. Additionally a great selection of local produce, real ale and fine wines will be on sale.

Priory Park itself is the ideal setting for such an event. Situated in the centre of Chichester it is framed by old Roman walls and includes a centuries old medieval Guildhall. This building is also being put to good use – it plays host to a second stage featuring sessions of book readings, poetry, young musicians and other acts. (Tickets for these sessions are priced individually £2-£10.)

Tickets for Priory Park Festival go on sale from midnight, March 24th  from the festival website. Early Bird tickets are expected to go early!

Various prices apply and are available on line at www.chichesterlive.co.uk  or in person from the Festival Box Office Cloisters Shop, Cathedral Cloisters, Chichester, PO18 1PX (open MondaySaturday 10am – 5pm). 01243 813595 from mid April.
