San Andreas Review – Out now on 3D, Blu-ray and DVD

The Rock returns on Digital HD, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD in the film that scored high in magnitude as it shook up various review: San Andreas.

While on his way to see his daughter Ray (Dwayne Johnson): Blake (Alexandra Daddario), Lawrence (Paul Giamatti) identifies early warning signs to a magnitude 9 plus quake.

San Andreas

Ray sets out to save his family and Lawrence tries to save everyone else. Again it hasn’t been a long since we saw Dwayne Johnson on the small screen.

This time forget the cars (most of them) and bring in the boats and choppers. Idescribed this film last time with a quote from the film “cute not bright” and I would definitely stick by this. The reason why I was looking forward to this home cinema release, other than the main feature, was because of the extras on the disks.

Obviously there are some standard things to be found: Commentary with the director Brad Peyton, Deleted Scenes and Gag Reel. But the ones to look out for are the ones that made this film slightly more believable than Johnson’s last.

The script of this film was looked over by geologists to ensure that what was being depicted in the film potentially could happen, so included in the bonus content is “San Andreas: The Real Fault Line” and “Scoring the Quake”. Both of these bring the reality back to the feature, and this is the part that made the film more exciting for me.

Of course this film release has come only a short while after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal. The film obviously drawing several comparisons to the unfortunate disaster but a studio representative informed Variety that their promotional campaign would be evaluated to be sensitive to this real life tragedy.

Although this film received a few conflicting review I would definitely look into at least renting this. It is a light watch, not too much to think about, and has some entertaining appearances Ian Gruffudd, Colton Haynes and Kylie Minogue to name a few. Of course the only way to see the added bonus features will be on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD.

Extras include:

Commentary by Director Brad Peyton

San Andreas: The Real Fault Line

Dwayne Johnson to the Rescue

“Scoring the Quake”

Deleted Scenes

San Andreas is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD.
