Could an Amy Winehouse musical hit London’s West End?

With two hugely successful studio albums under her belt, a musical celebrating the life of late singer Amy Winehouse could make its way to London’s West End, her father has revealed.

“It is something I’d really like to happen and I’ve said I’m happy for it to go ahead.”

Mitch Winehouse revealed at a recent red carpet gala: “A musical celebrating her life and music is being talked about for the near future, adding “The show would be “for the West End”, and that the production would remember the star “for what she was”.

He went on to say “There’s so much more to her than just the drugs and the alcohol”.

“We want to do something positive about how she developed her music”.

The Back To Black singer died of alcohol poisoning at her home in Camden in north London on July 23 2011, aged 27.

Her death came after a battle with alcohol and drugs. “What we don’t hear is that she was clean of drugs for three years when she died.”

Amy won numerous awards including a Mobo, three Ivor Novellos, Grammys and a Brit.
