Celebrity Mischief

I think as time goes on we’ve all come to understand that being a celebrity doesn’t necessarily mean being well-behaved. In fact the amount of celebrities that have been caught getting up to trouble in one way or another is quite incredible. There is, of course, always public uproar whenever a celebrity does something untoward – we, as a society, demand good role models. Well, for the sake of educating the younger gamblers out there, here are a few examples from well-known celebrities on how not to do it.

Derren Brown

Nothing quite says naive like allowing a self-proclaimed illusionist into your casino and expecting him to play fair. Derren Brown has made a name for himself through sleight of hand and hypnosis, so it is hardly surprising that there aren’t many casinos that are willing to let him come out and play. The illusionist has actually been banned from most UK casinos, but much like many of his tricks, the story behind these bans is mostly a mystery, although Broadway Plaza Casino security were pictured escorting the magician out of the building after suspecting that he might be counting cards.

Paris Hilton

Let’s face it; Paris probably has shameful behaviour listed on her resume by now, so we can’t really be too surprised that she made the list. What makes this mention particularly notable is the fact that Miss Hilton must be the first person in history to have been banned from a casino that is owned by her family. That’s right, following a series of bad choices in a high-stakes poker game, Paris had to hand over her Bentley and leave the Hilton casino.
Apparently it was her Daddy that had to send her packing.

Ben Affleck

We all knew that Affleck liked to try his hand at the odd gambling game, this was probably emphasised by his appearance in recent Hollywood flop Runner Runner. But it isn’t just in online gambling that Mr. Affleck has been a bad boy, prior to his most recent outing as Batman in the upcoming DC flick, Ben went and got himself booted out of the Hard Rock in Las Vegas following a case of counting cards. Many casinos from around Vegas have now released a statement saying that they had been suspicious of his behaviour prior to his banning. Luckily Ben has a movie to film, so he’ll be able to give those itchy thumbs a rest.

Justin Bieber

I think it goes without saying that wherever Bieber goes there is bound to be some irrational nonsense occurring. The main surprise for most of you might be that he even knows how to gamble, but not to worry, Bieber was actually awarded (we figure he collects these things like trophies) a lifetime ban from a Las Vegas indoor skydiving centre for, and I quote, “bratty behaviour”. What, Justin? – Never.

So there we go. Use this as a lesson in chances taken that weren’t so successful. I think this goes to show that we should always know when to gamble, and when not to bet our rather pricey Bentley at our Daddy’s hotel.
