This MarkMeets disclaimer explains our approach to website content, photography, copyright, attribution and rights enquiries. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions and other site policies linked below.

Photography, Video and Other Content

MarkMeets publishes material from several sources, including our editorial team, freelance contributors, photographers, press releases, publicity representatives, authorised providers and people who submit content directly.

Copyright in photographs, articles, audio, video and other creative material belongs to the relevant rights holder unless ownership has been transferred or another arrangement applies.

Our policy is to publish material where we have an appropriate basis to do so, such as ownership, permission, a licence, an applicable public-domain status or a relevant legal exception. The conditions attached to each source or item must be considered individually.

Images Found Online and on Social Media

An image appearing on a website, search engine or social media platform does not automatically make it available for republication. This includes material posted on X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

The absence of a watermark, copyright symbol, named photographer or visible credit does not mean that copyright has expired or that permission is unnecessary.

Likewise, describing an image as “royalty-free” does not necessarily mean that it can be used without conditions. The relevant licence may specify attribution, permitted uses or other restrictions.

Press Materials and Submitted Content

Press photographs and publicity materials may be supplied for particular editorial purposes. Their use remains subject to any accompanying instructions, permissions and restrictions.

If you send material to MarkMeets for publication, please identify the creator or rights holder and explain what permission you have to supply it. Include any required credit, usage restrictions and relevant licence information.

Submitting material does not guarantee publication. We may request further information about its source or permitted use before considering it.

Copyright Exceptions

Some uses of copyright material may be permitted by law without the rights holder’s permission. Whether an exception applies depends on the work, purpose, extent of use and other relevant circumstances.

As a UK-based publication, we do not treat the US concept of “fair use” as a blanket justification for publishing third-party material. UK exceptions, including fair dealing, have specific requirements.

In particular, the UK exception for reporting current events does not apply to photographs. Any proposed use of a photograph requires its own appropriate basis.

Credit alone does not replace permission where permission is required. Our not-for-profit status also does not automatically remove the need to respect copyright or licence conditions.

Credits and Attribution

We aim to provide the appropriate credits for supplied photographs and other third-party material, taking account of the information provided and applicable requirements.

If a credit is missing, incomplete or incorrect, please contact us with the page URL, details of the material and the correct attribution. We will review the information and make an appropriate correction where required.

Report a Copyright or Rights Concern

If you believe material on MarkMeets infringes your rights, contact Dan Dunn through our contact page or email Info@MarkMeets.com.

To help us assess your enquiry, include:

Your name, organisation and contact details.
The exact URL of the MarkMeets page concerned.
A description of the photograph, text, video or other material.
Information showing ownership or your authority to act for the rights holder.
An explanation of the concern and the action you are requesting.
Any relevant licence, correspondence or supporting documentation.

We will review sufficiently detailed enquiries and may request further information to establish the relevant facts. Depending on the circumstances, action may include correcting a credit, amending content, removing material or clarifying the applicable permission.

Verification and Payment Requests

For security reasons, we may ask for supporting documents to be provided in a verifiable format rather than opening unfamiliar links or attachments.

Payment demands and licensing claims are assessed on their supporting evidence and the circumstances of the alleged use. Receipt of a demand does not itself establish that a payment is due; equally, the absence of a prior agreement does not by itself resolve a copyright claim.

Accuracy and Corrections

MarkMeets publishes news, reviews, interviews, opinion and features. Information may change after publication, particularly event dates, availability, prices and third-party service details.

If you identify a factual error, email Info@MarkMeets.com with the article URL, the passage concerned and supporting information. Opinions expressed in reviews and commentary should be distinguished from statements of fact.

External Websites

Our pages may link to external websites for sources, further reading or services. Those websites are operated by their respective providers and have their own terms, privacy arrangements and content.

A link does not automatically indicate endorsement, ownership or a formal partnership. Readers should check relevant information directly with the provider before making a purchase, booking or other commitment.
