Bond 24 Villain May Be Played By This Guardians Of The Galaxy Star

After years of success in the wrestling industry, Dave Bautista is now starting to find some extreme success in Hollywood. This past summer he was part of the ensemble that made up James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy – playing Drax The Destroyer and doing so tremendously well. Obviously having an important role in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is pretty huge, but now rumors say that Bautista may have a part in one of the biggest movie franchises of all time.

Dave Bautista
Inside sources have told the folks at Latino-Review that Dave Bautista has landed a key henchman role in the upcoming, untitled Bond 24. If their sources are to be believed, he will be playing a character named Hinx, who is described as being “in the mold” of classic 007 villains like Jaws and Oddjob. The site has a casting breakdown of what the production was looking for in an actor, and Bautista really fits it to a T:

“We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy.

“Hinx (Male, 30 – 45)”

“Ideally over 6? 2?. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.”

“Height: 180cm – 195cm””

At this time, not much is known about Bond 24, but this is the second big piece of casting news we’ve heard in the last week. On Friday it was reported that Blue Is The Warmest Color‘s Lea Seydoux will be playing the newest Bond girl opposite Daniel Craig’s 007, the actress following in the footsteps of Eva Green (Casino Royale), Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), and Bérénice Marlohe/Naomi Harris (Skyfall). Sam Mendes is attached to direct the movie, according to the new rumor, production will begin on December 6th. Reports have revealed that filming will take place in England (more specifically at Pinewood Studios) and locations in Austria, Rome and Morocco.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it doesn’t sound like Dave Bautista is going to becoming a major player in the future of the Bond franchise, but it is a solid role for him to get. In Guardians of the Galaxy he proved himself to be a talented, entertaining actor who could do a good job playing a rather strange character. He showed an interesting amount of range, and it would be interesting to see him try to do something similar in Bond 24. Plus, this gig gives him something to do between now and the start of production on Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (which is still a couple years away).

Bond 24 will be in theaters November 6, 2015.
