They’re two of the biggest stars in the world and their previous collaboration, on 2014’s “Love Me Harder,” was a barnstormer, and The Weeknd have worked with Ariana Grande on three songs and his team love her process.

They’re two of the biggest stars in the world and their previous collaboration, on 2014’s “Love Me Harder,” was a barnstormer. With the release of Ariana Grande’s album Positions, fans are clamoring over the singer’s duets with the likes of Doja Cat but it’s her reunion with The Weeknd that has everybody talking. In true Grande style, she only notified fans that they could expect her sixth album by the end of October midway through the month, when she tweeted about being excited for its release.

Ariana Grande and The Weeknd have been good friends for years now after collaborating on several tracks in the past. Their friendship seems to be doing great recently as they were spotted hanging out with Grande’s new husband, Dalton Gomez.

Whilst Ms Grande’s vocal skills are legend, band member Abel jumped into a discussion about female producers to heap praise on his frequent studio companion.

After listening to Ariana and The Weeknd’s track, fans are suggesting they had a secret relationship that no one knew about until now when Ariana, in one of the lines, mentions his 2015 hit single called ‘The Hills’ – one of the biggest chartbusters of The Weeknd. The lyrics of the song where both of them sing go like, “I can see right through it (You can see right through it), I can you love you harder than I did before/ Was in a dark place back then, I was toxic, then I was toxic to someone else/ I was haunted by the hills (Oh yeah, yeah), I couldn’t give you my all, but I will, If you let me in your arms (Your arms), If you let me in your heart/ I don’t think that love’s completely off the table.”

The Internet went in for a shock and even suggested that The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ is all about Ariana Grande. Here’s how the Internet reacted. One user tweeted, “THANK YOU ABEL FOR CONFIRMING YOUR OLD SECRET RELATIONSHIP WITH ARIANA GRANDE WITH OFF THE TABLE AND HINTING WITH “THE HILLS”PART.” While highlighting the lyrics from ‘off the table’ and ‘The Hills’ with the help of screenshots, one tweeted, “The connection on the song when @theweeknd mentioned the hills #POSITIONS @ArianaGrande” Another added, “Sometimes I think the hills are about Ariana grande. Don’t ask me to explain I just do.” One user posted, “… So is The Hills about Ariana Grande or are they just f**king with us lmao.”

After producer Kenny Beats tweeted in all caps “we need to talk more about women producers everyday” while lauding the studio wizardly of Doja Cat, King Princess, Rosalia and Grande, the Weeknd had to weigh in. “i’ve seen Ariana work in real time,” he wrote. “That woman is a BEAST on pro tools.”

EBeats had written about as much himself, tweeting that Grande is “insane at comping vocals with 100 stacks,” while Rosalia “engineers herself at the highest level,” Princess “will walk around a room and play everything + track alone” while Doja has “beats of her own that are unreal.

Did Ariana and Abel date? Everything there is platonic. “I wrote a verse and a chorus, and I sent it over to Abel,” she said on The Zach Sang Show of “Off the Table.” “And he was like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to write the second verse. ‘” Grande deemed it “a very intimate moment and writing process between two friends.

King Princess appreciated the kind words, responding, “Love you @kennybeats and it’s rad to have people like you big upping people like us. It’s easy to forget that ARTISTS, and especially women, lgbtq+ and poc artists put work in at the studio and often get overlooked as producers.”

Back in April 2021, Grande posted a series of behind-the-scenes videos from the sessions for her Positions album that displayed the singer’s meticulous, exacting dedication to getting her vocals just right.

Ari and The Weeknd first collaborated on her song “Love Me Harder” from her 2014 My Everything album and then again on “Off the Table” from her 2020 Positions full-length and most recently on the “Save Your Tears” remix from Abel’s 2021 After Hours album.

The Weeknd recently wrapped up a two-weekend headlining run at this year’s Coachella festival, topping the main stage roster alongside reunited EDM trio Swedish House Mafia. Grande is filming her role as Glinda in the upcoming two-part film adaptation of the Wicked musical.

The Weeknd’s career was launched into the stratosphere once he began collaborating with super-producer Max Martin. Funnily enough, the R&B star met Martin for the very first time while working on “Love Me Harder” with Grande. As a result, the singer-songwriter acknowledged, “Ariana was kinda my foot in the door with Max, my chance to show him ‘I can play this game,’ y’know?” It still took a while, of course, with The Weeknd admitting Martin had to attend one of his shows to really get the appeal.

As the R&B star recalled, “So we sat down again, and the first song we created was ‘In the Night.'” Alongside his mega-hit “Can’t Feel My Face,” The Weeknd’s tracks with Martin made him the world-known superstar he is today. Without Grande, his mega-famous duet partner, it’s likely the two might never have found each other.

As of 2022, Ariana Grande’s net worth is estimated to be roughly $150 million.
