Britney Spears reveals cover and release date for ‘brave’ new memoir

Britney Spears’ long-awaited memoir The Woman In Me sets October release date

The first look at Britney Spears’ upcoming memoir has been revealed, with the release date finally confirmed.

The Baby One More Time singer previously teased plans to pen her life story after she was freed from her conservatorship in 2021, after a 13-year ordeal.

The news sparked a bidding war with Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, eventually winning out.

After reports that the project had been delayed, the 41-year-old is set to drop The Woman In Me on October 24.

A picture of the stunning black-and-white front cover shows the music icon posing topless with her arms crossed over her chest.

Jennifer Bergstrom, Gallery Books SVP and Publisher said: ‘Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery.

‘I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year.

‘We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.’

The Woman In Me has been described as a ‘brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope.’

It will also ‘illuminate the enduring power of music and love – and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.’

Britney announced that she was putting pen to paper last April, amid reports she had nabbed a deal worth millions of dollars.

In a post on Instagram, she explained that she had found the writing process ‘healing and therapeutic’ but admitted that she had found it ‘hard’ to reflect on past events in her life.

According to reports, the mom-of-two joined forces with ghostwriter Sam Lansky, who has previously worked alongside Madonna and Adele.

An insider previously raved about the pages explaining: ‘Britney’s book is a story of triumph. It will cover her most vulnerable moments and her childhood.

‘[It will cover] her break-up with Justin Timberlake, the moment she shaved her head, and her battle with her family over her conservatorship.’

‘This book will shake the world,’ another source added. ‘I believe that it will also be a ground-breaking instant bestseller.’

Britney Spears’s highly anticipated memoir, The Woman In Me, is officially on the way. People exclusively announced that the tell-all book from one of the world’s most defining pop stars would arrive on bookshelves on October 24, 2023
