Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’ reboot will now be released on July 28th 2023

The new Haunted Mansion movie’s release date has been bumped up by Disney. Based on Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, Haunted Mansion was previously adapted into a feature film starring Eddie Murphy in 2003 which, despite not being received well by critics or audiences, performed well at the box office. Disney is now looking to breathe new life into the IP with a star-studded reboot slated for this summer.

Now, the Haunted Mansion release date has been moved up to July 28 by Disney. The new movie adaptation was previously scheduled to release in theaters on August 11. The change was announced as part of a larger theatrical shift for the studio which also saw The Marvels moved back from July 28 to November 10.

Haunted Mansion stars Rosario Dawson as Gabbie, a single mom who moves into a surprisingly affordable New Orleans mansion with her nine-year-old son, Travis (Chase Dillon), in an effort to start a new life. But eventually, they both learn that the house is harboring a few dark secrets of its own.

Everything We Know About The New Haunted Mansion Movie

Similar to the 2003 adaptation, the new movie will tell a lighthearted tale about a family’s stay in a haunted mansion. The cast is led by Rosario Dawson as a single mom who, with her nine-year-old son, moves into an unusually affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover it is inhabited by ghosts. In a desperate attempt to exorcise the mansion, they seek the help of a priest (Owen Wilson), a paranormal expert (LaKeith Stanfield), a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), and a crotchety historian (Danny DeVito).

In addition to the aforementioned stars, the new Haunted Mansion movie cast also includes Jared Leto as Alistair Crump/Hatbox Ghost, an animatronic character who previously appeared during the Disney ride, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota, the ghost of a gypsy who appeared in the 2003 movie. The movie’s star-studded cast doesn’t stop there, as it also includes Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, and Hasan Minhaj in undisclosed roles.
