Harry Styles jokes about spitting on Chris Pine after wild fan theories

Harry Styles is so likeable and seems pretty chill about the speculation surrounding whether he did or didn’t spit on Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival. 

Fans have been beside themselves after a clip emerged of Harry, 28, arriving at the screening of his new film Don’t Worry Darling, directed by his girlfriend Olivia Wilde, in Venice on Monday.

In a short video, the former One Direction star is seen taking his seat beside Chris, 42, but not before appearing to lean over his co-star and making a facial expression that many believe was Harry spitting into the actor’s lap.

Chris has since shut down the rumours as an ‘online illusion’ and Harry, well, Harry has been quietly laughing about the controversy all along.

At his latest Love On Tour show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, the As It Was singer took a moment to address the wild fan theories and he was clearly highly amused about it all.

Harry told the audience: ‘This is our 10th show at Madison Square Garden, it is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back in New York.’

He then quipped: ‘I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine but fear not, we’re back.’

It comes after Chris’ spokesperson released a statement rubbishing the speculation, stating: ‘This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation.

‘Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine.

‘There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist,’ they added to People Magazine.

The Don’t Worry Darling promo run has been eventful to say the least, with Harry’s girlfriend Olivia – who is also the film’s director – at the centre of controversy.

Olivia, 38, recently claimed she had fired original lead actor Shia LaBeouf from the movie after he was accused of sexual abuse by ex-girlfriend FKA twigs, before replacing him with Harry.

However, Shia fired back alleging that he actually quit the film on his own accord.

There’s also been speculation that Olivia and lead actress Florence Pugh have clashed behind the scenes and, honestly, fans are bracing themselves for what comes next.

As for Harry, he’s in the middle of a whopping 15-night run at Madison Square Garden!
