Leonardo DiCaprio may be breaking his apparently ‘golden rule’ of dating, by ‘getting to know’ Gigi Hadid following his split from Camila Morrone.
You see, there’s been a lot said about Leonardo and his dating proclivities, seeing as while he continues to age – as homo sapiens tend to do – his girlfriends never reach the age of 25, which was gleeful fodder for gags at last night’s Emmy awards.
Well, they do reach that age – with his exes including Gisele Bundchen, Toni Garrn and Bar Refaeli – but they just don’t enjoy the twilight years of their twenties on the arm of Leo, 47.
At the positively elderly age of 27 (please, please note our sarcasm), the supermodel is the latest star to be linked to the Oscar winner as dating rumours begin to percolate in the public sphere.
According to a whole bunch of sources, while the pair aren’t ‘dating’ just yet, they are ‘getting to know each other’.
One source with a little zest claimed: ‘Leo is definitely pursuing Gigi,’ but another source appeared to pour some drops of cold water on the speculation, adding: ‘They’ve been seen hanging out with groups of people. It’s only been a few weeks since the split. Since then, he’s been hanging out with friends and family.’
Leonardo himself has been recently photographed in New York City, which is coincidentally where Gigi lives with her daughter Khai, two, who she shares with ex Zayn Malik.
Coincidentally, New York City is also the biggest city in the US and where Leo has been spotted many a time, but that’s neither here nor there.
It all follows claims Titanic actor Leo had split from Camila, 25, earlier this summer, after five years together.
Their romance raised eyebrows in Hollywood due to the 22-year age gap, a response the model previously criticized.
The chatters of their rumoured split led to an overload of memes on social media, amid a long-running joke that he doesn’t date anyone over the age of 25 and at last night’s Emmys Kenan Thompson – who was hosting the proceedings – couldn’t help making a dig at the news of their split.
‘Zendaya’s here from Euphoria, hello Zendaya,’ he announced as the camera panned to the actress, who was sat in the audience.
‘Zendaya just turned 26 last week, happy birthday. 26 is a weird age in HollywoodI mean, you’re young enough to play a high school student but you’re too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio…’
Camila previously slammed the dialogue surrounding their relationship and the discussion of their age gap in a chat with the Los Angeles Times, insisting that ‘anyone should be able to date who they want to date’.
Following the news of their break-up, Leo’s former partner, Kristen Zang, also slammed the jokes surrounding his love life.
‘I read the headlines and online comments with his most recent ex girlfriend being referred to as having “aged out” or being “too old for Leo at 25,” puh-lease (insert dramatic eye roll),’ she said of her ex – who she dated for four years in the 90s – in an open letter?’
