For the first time, Olivia takes audiences on a familiar road trip from Salt Lake City, where she began writing her triple-platinum Geffen Records debut album “SOUR,” to Los Angeles. Along the way, Rodrigo recounts the memories of writing and creating her record-breaking debut album and shares her feelings as a young woman navigating a specific time in her life. Through new live arrangements of her songs, intimate interviews and never-before-seen footage from the making of the album, audiences will follow her along on a cinematic journey exploring the story of “SOUR.”

The star OLIVIA RODRIGO said driving home 2 u” features 11 songs from “SOUR” performed with brand The film will feature Rodrigo on a road trip as she performs all 11 songs from SOUR in various locations, from the Mojave Airplane Boneyard to Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheater, along with special guests like Jacob Collier, Blu DeTiger and Towa Bird. The 18-year-old singer and actress is no stranger to the Disney universe—she began her career in 2016 as one of the young stars of the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark, and in 2019 she starred in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

Olivia Rodrigo is Filipina-American. She was born in 20 February 2003 to an American mother and a Filipino-American father. Olivia told Disney that her great-grandfather moved from the Philippines to America as a teenager.

“This is a unique film experience where for the first-time fans will understand how her album came to be and why it was such a personal journey for Olivia,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “This is not a concert film per say, but really, an opportunity to experience first-hand how Olivia Rodrigo became one of the biggest music stars of the day – and a chance to see her perform the songs from SOUR like never before.”

“‘driving home 2 u’ is such a unique and fresh approach to a music film, and that’s just what we’ve come to expect from Olivia,” said John Janick, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M and Interscope Films. “It’s an authentic look into her creative process, her incredible drive and who she is as an artist and person. We’re so proud to have co-produced this film with Supper Club and are thrilled that it has found a home on Disney +.”

“good 4 u” was the third single from Olivia Rodrigo’s debut studio album, SOUR. The song’s hook is laced with sarcasm, as Olivia sharply addresses her former partner for quickly moving on from their relationship without much of an issue or any care towards her at all. Like with her previous single, “deja vu,” Olivia again experiments musically, this time using drums and a guitar as primary instruments to emphasize her anger building up as the song progresses. Its angsty, pop-rock sound has drawn comparisons to 2000s acts like Paramore and Avril Lavigne.

In the music video, Olivia plays a high school cheerleader who is feeling distraught and vindictive over her former partner. She purchases a container of gasoline from a convenience store and appears to destroy her ex’s bedroom, setting it ablaze and causing it to flood. In the final shot, Olivia submerges herself into a lake with glowing red eyes—a subtle homage to the 2009 cult classic Jennifer’s Body in which Jennifer stares into the camera with bloodshot eyes while swimming in a lake.

Olivia first teased the song and its music video on April 26, 2021, by posting an Instagram photo showing her dressed as a cheerleader. On May 9, 2021, the song was revealed to be her next single in SOUR’s album trailer shown at theatrical screenings of In The Heights. The next day, its release was officially announced by Olivia on Instagram.

In the US, “good 4 u” debuted at #1 on May 29, 2021, her second chart-topper there. In the UK, it debuted at #2, then held the top spot for five weeks – the most by a guitar-driven song since the four weeks spent by Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” in 2003. The song has also topped pop charts in over a dozen more countries around the world.
