TV host Patrick Kielty felt “terrified” as he prepared to make his acting debut in his first movie.
The comedian and TV star landed his first big screen role in new film ‘Ballywalter’, which is set in is native Northern Ireland.
Patrick has never acted before and has admitted it was a huge challenge for him.
When asked how is acting is, to which he replied: “No idea.
“I’ve never done any screen acting before. I was terrified. The film’s out later in the year so ask me this question again when I’m hiding behind the back row seats.”
The movie is described as a “bitter sweet comedy drama” and stars Ryan McParland, Seána Kerslake and Paul Mallon while Patrick plays a character called Shane.

The comic was previously involved with another movie set in Northern Ireland, Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-winning film ‘Belfast’.
Patrick was asked to host the premiere of the movie in the city of the same name, and he admitted it was an honour to be a part of such a special experience.
He added: “I was really lucky when Ken rang up and asked if I would host the premiere for ‘Belfast’ in Belfast.
“To be in Belfast watching a Belfast audience watching that film and having to get up and talk to the cast afterwards and what Ken has been through and his Belfast story … it was a really emotional night.”
‘Belfast’ stars Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan and Ciarán Hinds won the Best Original Screenplay prize at the Oscars earlier this year.

It is a coming-of-age story and is partly-based on Kenneth’s own experiences growing up in Belfast.
Patrick lived in the US until August 2020 with Cat Deeleyto whom he married in 2012.
