Robert Downey Jr has suggested he will continue to play the role of Iron Man in the Marvel films.
The 49-year-old is contractually obliged to play the iconic character in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ – which he’s already completed filming – as well as another ‘Avengers’ flick.
And Downey Jr hinted he will continue to play the role thereafter, telling The Hollywood Reporter: ”I’m sure we’ll ride that thing. You’ve got to surf that all the way in to shore.”
He added: ”I think I was at the forefront of something that was coming into being, and I think it has carried me as much as I have informed it.
”That’s the healthy way to look at it. It’s so easy to become inflated by the successes, but what they really are are long, strong trends. It’s just another wave.”
Downey Jr assumed the role of Tony Stark – who is more commonly known as Iron Man – for the first time in 2008.
He has since appeared in two additional ‘Iron Man’ movies, grossing more than $2 billion worldwide.
However, in an interview conducted with Variety last month, Downey Jr was asked whether there are plans to make a fourth ‘Iron Man’ movie and he said: ”There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.”
Screen legend Robert Downey Jr. and his wife have congratulated A list couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher on becoming parents for the first time.
