X Factor boss Simon Cowell has revealed that he has nicknamed his unborn son Tad – short for Tadpole.

The reality TV mogul came up with the affectionate moniker after seeing the baby during a routine scan and admits he would quite like the name to stick.

“The first time I saw it, I called him “Tad” because he looked like a tadpole.

“I still want to call him Tad. I never wanted kids before. Now I’m completely the opposite.”

The 54-year-old also admitted that he had a “feeling” that the baby was going to be a boy before the scan confirmed it.

“Well, it was 50/50. I wouldn’t have minded either way, but I kind of knew it would be a boy,” he said.

“I just had this feeling. Mainly the fact I was calling him Tad – that is kind of a guy’s name and I just had that feeling.”

Cowell and his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, are set to welcome their son in February and he has even joked that this means the baby can be at the premiere of his X Factor musical in London next March.
