The SpongeBob Musical will receive its UK premiere next year, opening at the Birmingham Hippodrome in April 2023.
Based on the Nickelodeon series of the same name, the show features the much loved characters SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Eugene and Gary the Snail, with original music from stars including Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Sara Bareilles, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Plain White T’s and more.
A smash-hit on Broadway, the show was nominated for twelve Tony Awards, tying with Mean Girls for the most nominations at the 72nd Tony Awards. Based on SpongeBob Square Pants by Stephen Hillenburg, the musical is co-conceived by Tina Landau and features a book by Kyle Jarrow.
The SpongeBob Musical will play at Birmingham Hippodrome from 11-15 April 2023 and will then embark on a UK tour with the first date announced for Theatre Royal Plymouth, where it plays from 29 August 2023 to 2 September 2023.
SpongeBob SquarePants (or simply SpongeBob) is an American animated comedy television series.
