Kendall Jenner apparently feels she’s at a “crucial stage” of her modelling career.
The 19-year-old’s job is going from strength to strength and she recently landed a contract with beauty giant Estée Lauder. She is quickly leaving her life in reality TV behind, having starred in show Keeping Up With the Kardashians alongside her family including half-sisters Kim Kardashian and mom Kris Jenner, and is now focusing on forming a professional reputation.
“Kendall knows this is a crucial stage of her career – she has to think closely about who she’s associated with. Beauty isn’t the same as fashion – the top cosmetic brand models don’t roll out of clubs every night with bad boys,” a source explained to British magazine Look. “Joan Smalls, whose career Kendall would love to emulate, keeps a low profile. It’s vital that these models maintain a clean image, to ensure the top brands want them as their faces.”
Kendall has previously opened up about not wanting her family to be sitting on the front row at her shows as she feels they take the attention away from her. The teenager has walked for the likes of Marc Jacobs and Chanel and while she is appreciative of the support, she is said to feel more comfortable when they’re not present.
“Of course she’s always going to love her family, but Kendall’s smart enough to know the world of high fashion and beauty doesn’t mix with reality TV,” the source added. “It doesn’t help that wherever Kim goes, there’s a media circus. It’s just not cool.”
On top of her modelling Kendall and her sister Kylie are also designers, creating ranges for PacSun and an accessories range for Madden Girl, helmed by footwear designer Steve Madden.
