Rihanna likes to keep her workouts “fresh and exciting”.
The 27-year-old star confessed in a recent interview that her love for foods such as pasta mean she has to maintain a gruelling exercise regime.
“Legit, I have been in the gym every day this week because I am not willing to give up my food,” Rihanna told VanityFair. “But I will sacrifice an hour for the gym.”
The singer recently admitted she has to spend time in the gym because she can’t resist indulging in her favourite foods. Rihanna’s personal trainer Jamie Granger has now spilled the beans on how the star maintains her stunning slim-line physique.
Rihanna’s personal trainer says the singer is willing to try anything when she hits the gym.
“We do cycling, hiking, paddling – we try to mix it up,” Jamie told Hollywood Reporter. “Someone like that who’s working out almost every day, we need to keep it fresh and exciting.”
The fitness expert is an ambassador for Puma, the same sportswear brand that has named Rihanna as a creative director. Jamie loves working with the singer because is willing to try anything when it comes to working up a sweat.
“[Rihanna does] everything from power lifting to plyometrics,” she said.
Jamie insists the singer can continue to enjoy her favourite calorific treats as long as she burns off the extra calories when she works out. “It’s a balance,” she said. “If you want to eat a little more, you’ve just got to work out a little harder.”
Jamie believes anyone can hone their figure, even if they don’t have much time to devote to working out. The expert says the key to success is focusing on key exercises.
“Big compound movements are the best for anybody and [for] burning the most calories,” she explained. “[Those workouts can include] squats, lunges and a lot of the plyometric moves to keep your heart rate up because sometimes we only have 20-25 minutes so it’s about constant big moments.”
