American singer and style icon Adam Lambert talks about school years: ‘I was kind of a loner’
33 year-old Adam Lambert has opened up stating that he was a bit of a loner in middle school and if he could give his younger self some advice, it would be to: Relax because everything will turn out alright in the end”.
The heartthrob admitted to HuffPost that he spent a lot of time worrying about his lack of social life as a youngster:
“If I could give teen Adam advice, I think I would say ‘it’s going to be fine… relax. Take a breath. It’s going to be fine.’ I think when I was in middle school… like sixth, seventh and eighth grade – I didn’t have a lot of friends and was kind of a loner – I didn’t have much of a social life until I got to high school and there were clubs and people who had shared interests.”
The ‘Ghost Town’ sensation went onto add that while he wasn’t bullied directly, he feels as though he avoided a lot of situations out of fear of getting picked on: “Middle school kids… kids are mean at that age. I didn’t get bullied, but I think I avoided a lot of social contact because I didn’t want to be bullied. Do you know what I mean?”
When Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” was released earlier this year, some wondered whether the provocative song would fit into conservative country radio. Well, it fit in and then some, owning the country charts and winning song of the year at the 2015 CMA Awards.
The song got another twist on Wednesday night’s CMT Artists of the Year event with a cover by Adam Lambert and Leona Lewis. The midtempo song got a boost of pop bombast from the singers, who both got their starts on Simon Cowell-helmed singing shows: Lambert on American Idol and Lewis on The X Factor U.K.
The summer of 2016 will see Adam and Queen headline British festival Isle of Wight.
