Ed has shifted over 4m copies of his latest album DIVIDE.
The music world was expecting big things from the artist’s come-back, but ÷ (“Divide”) has enjoyed unprecedented success, notching up a string of impressive world records since the first tracks from the album were released on 6 January.
The long-player debuted at No.1 on this week’s UK Official Albums Chart and has become the Fastest-selling pop album in the UK by a male artist of all time. With a staggering 672,000 first-week sales and downloads, it has sold more copies in its first week than the rest of the UK’s Top 500 albums combined.
The hugely-popular musician achieved a grand total of 16 tracks in the UK Top 20 – a feat which has also earned Ed the record for Most simultaneous UK Top 20 singles.
The previous UK record was five simultaneous Top 20 songs, shared by Ruby Murray (1955), Bill Haley and his Comets (1956), Elvis Presley (1957) and Michael Jackson (2009).
FUTURE
Glasto
It was long rumoured that Ed would make headling Glasto and yes, it will be the Sunday where the 26 year-old will close this year’s Glastonbury Festival with a headline set on the Pyramid Stage.
Ed made his Glastonbury debut in 2011 before he had released his first album, at the Croissant Neuf tent in the Green Fields. He last played at the Festival in 2014.
Game of Thrones
It has been confirmed that Ed will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones.
Game of Thrones producers, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, said they’ve been trying to book the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker for some time now.
His role is still to be confirmed, but we promise to keep you updated as the news comes in.
Other

Spare time
Ed Sheeran’s net worth is estimated to be around $84.0 million and now he has revealed to having his own personal zoo on his 16th-century countryside mansion in Suffolk saying ““I’ve got otters, hedgehogs, I have herons, barn owls, I’ve got a bunch of stuff. It’s a cool environment to be in.”
Alongside his creature-filled farm, he has a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi and a tree-house studio where he recorded record-breaking album Divide.
That’s not forgetting the underground tunnel leading to his own private pub, which serves local ales. Will he have time to enjoy it this year? We do hope so.
