‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ premiere in London
Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge made a bold entrance on the red carpet for the icon’s final outing in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
The Hollywood legend, 80, looked dapper in a blue shirt, dark tie and smart black lace-up shoes at Cineworld Leicester Square as fleabag actress Phoebe, 37, dazzled in a metallic dress featuring an elaborate white cape complete with white heels.
Harrison Ford returns as the legendary hero archaeologist. Starring along with Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), John Rhys-Davies (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”).
Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981, is once again composing the score.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge boosted her height with a pair of silver heels, while forgoing further accessories and jewellery so as to keep the attention on her dress. Her cropped brunette locks were swept into a side parting, with Phoebe highlighting her features with a subtle make-up palette.
Harrison first starred as the globe-trotting archaeologist in 1981’s Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Ark, following up with four sequels. Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, due for release in cinemas on June 28, will see Harrison return one last time as the eponymous hero.
Celebrity A-listers including Love Island season eight winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti proved to be couple goals as they matched in all-black. Elsewhere, ITV morning host Lorraine Kelly opted for vibrancy in a palm tree dress.
While Harrison may not planning to retire, he did recently confirm that upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny – the fifth entry in the franchise – will be his last adventure as the whip-cracking archaeologist.
‘This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film,’ he told Total Film magazine.
He also shared that he was not sad to be donning Indy’s iconic fedora for the last time, adding: ‘It’s time for me to grow up!’
‘I’ve always wanted to do this. A final chapter. For Indiana Jones, I wanted to see him at the end of his career, at the end of the road that we’ve established. We’ve taken him part of the way, I wanted to take us all the way,’ he said to Entertainment Tonight.
The Ender’s Game star went on to add that he wanted new director James Mangold to ‘embrace’ the age of the action hero in the final film and teased that the entire franchise is closed out in a ‘beautiful’ way.
‘I wanted him to not run away from the age of the character, but to embrace it and to tell the story of a man who’s spent his life this particular way, and what it comes to. That ride wouldn’t have come if he hadn’t fallen so low.
‘It wouldn’t have been the ride that it is and wouldn’t have ended the way that it does. And it ends in a beautiful way. It was gratifying to know that we were doing something that we both believed in, that we had a passion for. And that we did.’
The What Lies Beneath star shared that he, Mangold and the cast and crew have all worked ‘really hard’ and that ‘completing the job itself was like completing the character’.
The movie first premiered at the recent Cannes Film Festival and has a reported budget of $300million.
Harrison and Phoebe appear alongside Mads Mikkelsen, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas and the return of John Rhys-Davies as Sallah.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hits UK cinemas on June 28.
