Rebecca Romijn attends Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiere in NYC

The new series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is gearing up for its season one launch on the Paramount+ streaming service in May.

And on Saturday, with less than a week until its much-anticipated debut, some of the cast attended the New York City premiere at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater.

Among the crew of the USS Enterprise to strut their stuff on the red carpet was Rebecca Romijn, who reprises her Discovery role as Una Chin-Riley/Number One, first officer and second in command to Captain Christopher Pike, in the 10-episode season.

Romijn, 49, turned more than a few heads when she stepped in front of the admiring photographers in a black minidress adorned with an assortment of colorful gems.

To complete the look, the former model slipped her feet into a pair of of prismatic stiletto heels.

She had her long tresses slicked back off her face and styled into a ponytail.

These past few days has seen Romijn get playful with the promotional phase of the new series by using her father-in-law in a couple of Instagram posts.

On Wednesday, she shared a photo of her husband, Jerry O’Connell’s dad Michael O’Connell, standing next to a promo poster of Romijn while in a subway station in Manhattan.

‘This is my adorable father-in-law. He stood here in the NY subway for 3hrs and told everyone who passed, that his daughter-in-law, Number One, serves on the Enterprise @startrekonpplus #strangenewworlds,’ she wrote in the caption.

The next day, on Thursday, Romijn was back at it again, using her father-in-law as a prop in another picture of Mr. O’Connell striking a pose next to her image in film promo poster.

This time she used a bit of humor, while engaging her 228,000 Instagram fans and followers.

‘If anyone is near the 18th Street Uptown One Train Station, my father-in-law is still next to the Strange New Worlds poster,’ Romijn joked in the caption.

Along with Romijn, Anson Mount (Pike) and Ethan Peck (Spock) are also reprising their roles. The characters were introduced in the original Star Trek series, and these actors were cast in the roles for the second season of Discovery in 2019.

The cast for Strange New Worlds also includes Babs Olusanmokun, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Jess Bush, Melissa Navia and Bruce Horak.

Created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, the new installment is part of Kurtzman’s expanded Star Trek Universe, serving as a spinoff from Star Trek: Discovery and a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is slated to premiere on Paramount+ on May 5, 2022, with the 10-episode season running through until July 7.

The show has already been renewed for a second season in January 2022, which began shooting the following month.
