The Little Mermaid’s Halle Bailey stunned this evening in a white shell-themed gown as she makes a magical arrival alongside co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Simone Ashley at the UK premiere

It is the hotly-anticipated live action remake of the Disney classic and as the Little Mermaid premiere rolled into town in London, as did its star-studded cast, as they took to the red carpet at the at Odeon Luxe Cinema in Leicester Square on Monday to celebrate the film’s release.

The films leading lady Halle Bailey, who plays mermaid Ariel, looked nothing short of sensational as she graced the screening alongside her glamorous co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Simone Ashley.

Actress Halle, 23, slipped into a deeply plunging white dress which was the perfect choice for the evening, due to being inspired by a shell and featured dazzling diamante detailing all over. She styled the outfit with a pretty sparkling headpiece and a pair of drop earrings, while she was sporting a flawless coat of make-up which only enhanced her natural beauty.

Halle tyled the outfit with a pretty sparkling headpiece and a pair of drop earrings, while she was sporting a flawless coat of make-up which only enhanced her natural beauty and  appeared in high spirits as she waved and smiled in front of cameras, while stood against an incredible Little Mermaid themed seascape backdrop.

While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

Directed by Rob Marshall, whose previous films include Chicago and Memoirs Of A Geisha, the new remake of The Little Mermaid boasts a glittering casti including Hamilton alum Daveed Diggs, former child star Jacob Tremblay, Crazy Rich Asians actress Awkwafina and comedy icon Melissa McCarthy are all part of the project.

Noma Dumezweni, who achieved international fame as Hermione in the original cast of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, plays a new role invented for the remake.

The Little Mermaid is the beloved fairytale of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure, based on the classic story by Hans Christen Anderson.

The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric.

Huzzah, Disney’s The Little Mermaid has almost arrived on shore! Slated to be released theatrically on May 26, the film is a live-action adaptation of the 1989 animated classic.

It stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, a young mermaid princess who longs to explore life above the sea levels. She strikes an ill-advised deal with sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), giving up her voice in exchange for becoming a human for three days to chase after the handsome Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King).

Additional starring cast members include Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Noma Dumezweni as new character Queen Selina. The film was directed by Rob Marshall, who serves as a producer alongside Marc Platt, John DeLuca, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. David Magee penned the screenplay. Composer Alan Menken, who worked on the 1989 animated film, composed the score and wrote several new songs alongside Miranda.

Ahead of the film’s theatrical release, the cast got together for a virtual press conference hosted by Nischelle Turner on May 9. The Nerds of Color got a chance to attend and hear from Bailey, Hauer-King, Diggs, Awkwafina, Tremblay, Bardem, McCarthy, and Dumezweni. Plus, Awkwafina answered one of NOC’s questions!
