Channel 4’s Great Celebrity Bake Off came to an end this week, with four new celebs stepping into their famous tent.
Rolling their sleeves up and flouring their surfaces this week was singer Ellie Goulding, actor and comedian Mawaan Rizwan, actress Tracy-Ann Oberman and television presenter Sophie Morgan.
They were each tasked with making one Signature, Technical and Showstopper baker, after which one of them was crowned Star Baker – but who was it?
Read on for everything you need to know about this week’s Star Baker, and all the celebs who have won the accolade on the 2022 series.
Who won Star Baker on The Great Celebrity Bake Off?
Week Five – Ellie Goulding
Singer Ellie Goulding won over the judges in the final week.
For the final set of challenges, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith didn’t hold back, as they tasked the contestants with making a marble cake for the Signature, followed by a jam roly-poly Technical and a show stopping biscuit in honour of their celebrity hero.
At the end of all three tasks, the How Long Will I Love You star was crowned Star Baker.
Week Four – Ben Miller
Comedian and actor Ben Miller managed to wow the judges with his bakes in week four.
Miller is best known for being one half of comedy duo Armstrong and Miller. Some of his other acting roles include playing the lead role of DI Richard Poole in the first two series of the BBC crime drama Death in Paradise, and James Lester in the ITV science-fiction series Primeval.
Week Three – Example
Example won Star Baker in Week Three. For the Signature challenge, the contestants were tasked with making 18 identical biscuits with a stained glass window design. Example – full name Elliot John Gleave – opted for white chocolate and passion fruit unicorn-shaped biscuits, which Prue called: “Pretty clever.”
Next was the Technical challenge, which required the bakers to make six iced raspberry doughnuts. Elliot came in second place, finishing behind Matt Lucas.
For the final Showstopper, the contestants were asked to make a novelty cake to represent a job they did before they became famous.
There was a lot of competition in the final round, with Prue even admitting that the celebs were “baking as well as some of our best bakers in the country”.
However, it was Elliot’s Australian landscape cake that won the judges over. Prue called it “charming” and Paul added: “That’s a nicely-balanced sponge.”
Week Two – Gareth Malone
This week’s Star Baker was won by Gareth Malone. The English choirmaster beat the likes of social media star Yung Filly, Love Island host Laura Whitmore and comedian Ruby Wax as they competed for the Star Baker title, while trying to raise money for charity.
But it was Gareth’s “Pond Dipping” meringue display, which really impressed the judges as Paul called it “clever” and “ingenious”, and Prue praised him on the skill used.
Week One – Emma Willis
Star Baker was won by presenter Emma Willis.
For this year’s first Signature Challenge, the Great Celebrity Bake Off 2022 line-up were tasked with making 12 identical animal biscuits in any flavour of their choice.
Unfortunately for Clara, her biscuits lacked flavour, and Alex’s fig rolls were a little hard. Blake managed to nail the taste, but Paul Hollywood wasn’t impressed with the thick icing.
Emma’s biscuits might have crumbled under pressure slightly, but she nailed the flavours, and received the first Hollywood Handshake of the season for her elephant-style Viennese biscuits.
Next up was the blind Technical round, which saw the bakers having to make maple and pecan madeleines.
It was second round unlucky for Clara, who came in fourth place, and it wasn’t much better news for Blake and Alex.
The judges then revealed that Emma had created the best madeleine, putting her in first place.
Finally, it was time for the Showstopper challenge. For the final task, the celebs were asked to make choux sculptures conveying a secret talent of theirs.
Alex opted for a sausage and mash choux skate park, which Prue called “witty and fun”, before adding: “But it ain’t gastronomy!”
Blake went for a wrestling ring. Although it didn’t look great, Prue gave it the thumbs-up for the taste.
Clara had planned to create a sports stadium and some medals to represent her love for running, but she ran out of time and only produced three medals, which had “fantastic flavour”, according to Paul.
But, it was Emma’s building site choux display, which really stood out. Prue called it “perfect, light, smooth and satiny” and Paul dubbed it “superb”.
In the end, it was decided that The Voice UK presenter Emma would be this week’s Star Baker.
The Great Celebrity Bake Off is available to watch on All 4.
