Batman game developer Warner Bros. Games Montreal are now working on a second, unannounced project alongside the upcoming Gotham Knights MarkMeets have been informed.
A insider states that they are working on the unannounced game “in addition to our current responsibilities on Gotham Knights”.
“Co-designed features, core gameplay pillars and co-founded the project with the Creative director”.
WB Games Montreal has refused to comment and has only worked on Batman projects. Its debut title was 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins. It also contributed to Rocksteadys’ Arkham City and created four DLC packs for Arkham Knight.
Gotham Knights sees players controlling one of four superhero characters – Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, and Batgirl – following the death of Bruce Wayne.
Gameplay takes place in a “dynamic and interactive” open-world Gotham City where players take on villains such as Mr. Freeze. They’ll use a variety of abilities, weapons, and unique combat moves to neutralize their foes, Warner said.
Seven minutes of actual gameplay footage from the game was shown at last year’s DC Fandome and a new trailer premiered last month.
Although it was initially planned for release this year, in March it was confirmed that it would be delayed until 2022.
In a statement published on social media at the time, Warner Bros said it was “giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players”.
