The Most Beautiful Video Games of 2023: True Test for Your PC

Beautiful graphics have always been one of the main motivators for upgrading your PC or buying a new console. That’s why we always hope that every new year sets new standards. 2023 didn’t bring anything mind-blowing, but there were still plenty of beautiful and technologically advanced projects. Here are 8 of the most striking ones.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

It is possible that for online games or retro themed slots the user doesn’t have a big demand for a beautiful picture and optimization. However, as for the iconic games that require gorgeous graphics, which allows game holdings to stay in the competitive market and meet the needs of the player in 2023. Insomniac Games has always had a knack for showing a pretty picture. Released at the end of the PS4 era, Marvel’s Spider-Man was almost the most technologically advanced game on the platform. Later came the remaster, and in a way, its release was a strategic mistake. Either the developers were in a hurry, or the PS5’s capabilities weren’t enough, but the sequel doesn’t make such a powerful impression anymore.

However, there are still improvements. Increased traffic density, increased ray tracing quality, the drawing range is impressive, and the animation is a delight. Yes, they didn’t reach the next a little bit, but this fact doesn’t take away the status of one of the most beautiful games in the history of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Alan Wake 2

A certain portion of players have always had questions about the quality of games. In addition, many meticulous players try to read as much as possible about the world of gaming, gambling, and trends, as Vitaliy Klymenko, Editor In Chief at Slotamia, knows firsthand. His blogs will be relevant in 2023 and will help newcomers keep up to date.

Remedy is no exception; here, fans had special expectations for the game and, subsequently, a share of disappointments. But what the Finns definitely excel at is the quality of the graphics. Quantum Break was hardly inferior to PS4 exclusives, and Microsoft’s console was weaker. Control did a great job of showcasing raid racing. And Alan Wake 2 – not at all. Even on consoles, the game looks great and practically doesn’t slow down. And if you have a powerful PC, sometimes you can forget about the fact that there are three-dimensional models in front of you, not live actors. So realistic are the models. Location detailing also deserves the most flattering words, as well as numerous post effects.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Although the RE Engine was born in the last generation, Capcom has been modifying it ever since. That’s why each new Resident Evil installment, starting with the seventh, has gotten more and more beautiful. The original Resident Evil 4 was one of the most beautiful games of its time, and the remake adopted this feature. Thanks to the darker style, the 2005 hit became perceived quite differently. Whether it’s better or not is a matter of taste, but in technical terms, the game was a real eye-catcher. Except for ray tracing – it doesn’t change the quality of graphics much, but it noticeably lowers the performance. At least on consoles.

Fort Solis

Fort Solis is a bad game with a banal story and zero gameplay. And yet, it is one of the best demonstrations of Unreal Engine 5 capabilities. Character models, environment, and lighting are done just great. In some places, you can easily confuse the shots from the game with some sci-fi horror movie. Of course, this project will be opened only on a powerful PC – otherwise, you will have to lower graphics settings because the optimization here is so poor.

Dead Space Remake

While game studios are trying to squeeze the most out of Unreal Engine 5, EA continues to improve its Frostbite. And Dead Space is a great demonstration of it thanks to the excellent realization of lighting. The 2008 original hasn’t aged as well as Resident Evil 4. That’s why the jump in graphics in the remake is not so tangible. At the same time, Capcom and Motive Studio’s creations have the same feature – both “reimaginings” turned out to be darker. This allowed us to put even more emphasis on the beautiful play of light and shadow.

Final Fantasy XVI

The Final Fantasy games have always delighted with a great quality of execution, and the 16th installment is no exception. Someone was waiting for a more tangible step forward compared to the remake of Final Fantasy VII, but even the existing level is good. Once, such a picture could be seen only in CGI, but now everything is generated in real-time. In addition to excellent graphics, Final Fantasy XVI is notable for the darker tone of the narrative and a number of changes in gameplay. However, not all longtime fans appreciated such changes, but this is a separate topic for discussion.

Lords of the Fallen

The 2023 re-launch of Lords of the Fallen is a perfect illustration of what happens when you chase technology and forget about optimization. It’s one of the most beautiful RPG action games at the moment. But for the external gloss, it had to pay for poor performance on PCs and absolutely terrible performance on consoles. Digital Foundry called the state of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series a disgrace.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Even though the original Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020, it still pleased with the quality of its graphics. It’s normal for CD Projekt RED to make games “for growth” – just remember The Witcher 3. The Phantom Liberty add-on didn’t bring big improvements to the visual component, but it still looks very impressive. In open-world games, you often have to save on the quality of assets, but this is not the case here. Models and characters have as high detail as the environment. Again, if you play on a top-of-the-line PC – the console versions are still noticeably worse. But Phantom Liberty is valuable not only for its beautiful visuals but also for its dark story, which was a great addition to the main story.
