Want to protect your investment and make your table tennis table last longer? Here’s how.

Congratulations if you have just bought your first ever outdoor ping pong table. Now that you have it in your possession, you need to know how to take care of your precious one. We can help you with that.

Here are top tips on how to maintain your outdoor ping pong table to keep it looking cooler for longer.

7 Tips To Maintain Your Outdoor Ping Pong Table

Whether you have just bought a new table, or you already had one, it is never too late to start maintaining your outdoor ping pong table. Outdoor furniture is exposed to the elements and therefore at greater risk than indoor ping pong tables. Follow this guidance and you should find that your table lasts you a solid few years.

1 – Buy a ping pong table cover

Our top tip is that you buy a ping pong table cover to protect that investment. The table can become adversely impacted if it is left in severe weather. The wind and rain will cause rot and the sun will cause the paint to peel and bubble. A cover prevents both. The Best Outdoor Ping Pong Table: Amsterdam has a cover.

2 – Keep it Clean

After playing, make sure you wipe down the table to keep it free from sticky messes. Things like acidic sweets and fruits can damage the paintwork or even cause discoloration. Wipe it with a damp cloth for best results.

3 – Take down the net when not in use

When you leave the net taught for too long, it starts to lose its stretch. Similarly, not taking the net down gives small animals the opportunity to get stuck in it. Nobody wants to have to extricate a rat or mouse from their ping pong net, so take it down when storing or when not in use.

4 – Use Cleaning Solutions

If you are playing an outdoor table tennis set up at a club house, they will have cleaning solutions specific to ping pong tables. On the other hand, your home table does not. If you have tried cleaning with hot soapy water and it doesn’t take the stains out, consider using a ping pong table specific cleaning solution, instead.

5 – Store it Away

Don’t be frightened to store it away if it hasn’t been played for a few months. Traditionally, outdoor ping pong isn’t played in bad weather. This is because the ball will blow away in the wind and can’t bounce high in the wet. Folding it up and putting it in the garage during the cold months is a clever idea.

6 – Consider Vinegar

Many pro establishments make up a mixture of water and vinegar to clean the ping pong tables with. The vinegar kills the germs and adds a nice shine.

7 – Minimize exposure to the elements

A ping pong table that you leave out in the wind, rain, sun, and snow, is not going to last more than a year or two. The table might retain strength, but it will lose the paintwork and finish. Keep it safe and it should last you years.
