5 Actors Who Could Make It Big In 2014

2013 was a great year for film, with a number of incredibly talented actors breaking new ground. 2014 is looking like an equally good year, with a number of highly anticipated releases. Here we take a look at 5 actors you should definitely be looking out for this year.

Barkhad Abdi

Despite having only one on-screen appearance to his name, Barkhad Abdi is undoubtedly one to watch in 2014. His appearance as a fearsome Somali pirate leader in the 2013 smash hit Captain Phillips, has earned him a huge following in a stunningly short period of time. Having just picked up the Best Supporting Actor prize at the BAFTAs, we can be sure to be seeing a lot more of Abdi in the years to come.

Chiwetel Ejiofor

If there was one film that got people talking last year, it was 12 Years A Slave. The Steve McQueen slavery epic recently cleaned up at the BAFTAs and is widely thought to win big at the Oscars 2014. Naturally, one can only expect that Chiwetel Ejiofor, the leading actor will go on to do some very big things this year. Chiwetel is no stranger to the limelight, having appeared in numerous high profile films over his lengthy career. He is currently working on his next performance in Z for Zachariah, a post-apocalyptic drama, as well as Half of a Yellow Sun, an adaptation of a novel by the Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara is not a newcomer by any means, winning multiple awards for her performances in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network. Mara is set to play the lead role in the highly anticipated adaptation of Andy Mulligan’s Trash, written by Richard Curtis. If that wasn’t enough, she’s set to appear in an as yet unnamed film from Terrence Malick, starring Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett and Florence Welch.

Tom Hiddleston

It’s been hard to look anywhere in the media recently without seeing or hearing Tom Hiddleston. The British actor has been owning the stage as well as the screens in his recent roles in Coriolanus and Thor 2, and is gearing up for a brilliant next few years. The highly talented actor will also be starring in forthcoming Guillermo del Toro and Ben Wheatley projects. Our one to watch!

Christoph Waltz

The oldest and most decorated of this list, Christopher Waltz is certainly someone to keep an eye on this year. Waltz will be appearing in a number of massively hyped films, including Big Eyes and Candy Store, starring Robert De Niro. There are also rumours that he will be appearing in the highly successful Pirates of the Caribbean series!
