Fast X Trailer Teases Dark Times Ahead for Dom & Letty

It’s time to ride or die in the latest trailer for this month’s Fast X, the highly anticipated action sequel and first chapter in the franchise’s finale. Released courtesy of The Fast Saga YouTube channel, the latest look at the action outing puts Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty Ortiz at its center, with the ominous tone suggesting that one of them may not make it out of Fast X in one piece.

Dom and Letty’s relationship has hit many a speed bump throughout the Fast and Furious series, with Letty seemingly being killed at the beginning of the fourth outing, Fast & Furious, back in 2009. After suffering such heartbreak, it’s revealed to a stunned Dom (and audience) during Fast & Furious 6 that Letty in fact survived…somehow…with the pair eventually being reunited. After Letty gets over her bout of amnesia and desire to kill Dom, of course.

Even after so much drama, Dom and Letty have stayed together, survived, and remained strong. But with Fast X gearing up to end the series, could we see the sequel swipe the scythe in Letty’s direction once again? For real this time.

Fast X Is the Beginning of the End for The Fast

The tenth installment in the Fast & Furious Saga, Fast X finds Dom and his family facing their biggest challenge yet. Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever.

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price. Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

Directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk), Fast X stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena and Scott Eastwood, with Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Oscar winner Charlize Theron.

Fast X is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 19, 2023, by Universal Pictures. A further sequel, intended to be the main series’ final installment, is now set to be released in 2025, with the core cast returning alongside director Louis Leterrier.
