Movie actress Reese Witherspoon shares first picture of herself on the set of Wild as it’s revealed Laura Dern has been cast as her mother

In the photograph the blonde actress wears a white T-shirt and carries a large backpack with a sleeping back and various other gear attached.

In this adaptation of the New York Times best seller, the actress plays author Cheryl Strayed, who, after the death of her mother and the dissolution of her marriage, decides to go cross-country hiking and find hope and resolution for her years of reckless and self-destructive behavior.

Co-producer Reese read the manuscript and bought the film rights before the book was even published and enlisted British author Nick Hornby to pen the script.

Wild comes to UK cinemas in 2014 and stars Reese Witherspoon, Thomas Sadoski, Michiel Huisman, W. Earl Brown, Gaby Hoffmann, Kevin Rankin.
