Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is rumoured to be one of the front runners to represent the UK at this year’s Eurovision.

“This is either some sick joke or an elaborate ploy for Geri to launch her new solo career with”, said music reporter Mark Boardman

British Eurovision chiefs think that Geri has what it takes to make an impact at the song contest in Copenhagen on May 10.

An insider is quoted as saying: “Geri seems a perfect fit for Eurovision…

“She’s up for a laugh and not afraid to camp things up.

“It’s now a case of whether she’s as up for it as the BBC is.”

The source added: “If she wins, she would be hailed as a legend…

“But if she doesn’t score highly, it could be another embarrassing moment.”

However, a spokesperson for the BBC could not confirm the reports.

They said: “The BBC is passionate about our involvement in the Eurovision Song Contest and we are collaborating with creative experts across the UK music industry to select this year’s entry.

“A decision has not been made. We will make an announcement in due course.”
