The Kindergarten Teacher set for movie remake

Maggie Gyllenhaal to lead remake of The Kindergarten Teacher

39 year-old Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal is set to star in the Hollywood remake of critically-acclaimed Israeli film drama The Kindergarten Teacher.

The Dark Knight star will portray New York teacher Lisa Spinelli in the English-language revamp, which will chronicle her obsession with a talented five-year-old poet she believes is a prodigy.

The 2014 original, written and directed by Nadav Lapid, featured Israeli actress Sarit Larry in the lead role.

Little Accidents directer Sara Colangelo adapted the script for the remake and will take charge of the shoot when cameras begin rolling in July (17).

Trudie Styler, wife of rocker Sting, will produce the project with Celine Rattray for their Maven Pictures firm, alongside Osnat Handelsman-Keren and Talia Kleinhendler from Pie Films, through which the Hebrew version was made.

Gyllenhaal received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in “Crazy Heart.” She won a Golden Globe for her work in the BBC miniseries “The Honourable Woman.” Her other film credits include “Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang,” “Won’t Back Down,” and “Frank.”.

Gyllenhaal will also serve as a producer.
