Vin Diesel has revealed the new sequel to his cult 2002 action film xXx will begin production this winter.
The 48-year-old actor portrays Xander Cage in the action-adventure film franchise, an extreme sports athlete recruited by the government on a special mission.
A sequel to the original 2002 picture has been in development for a while, but fans don’t have to wait much longer, as Vin confirmed on Sunday the follow-up will begin production this winter.
“While I was filming XXX, guys on set called me Air Diesel… The time to return has come. Filming starts December in the Philippines. #ILiveForThisSh*t (sic),” Vin wrote on his Instagram account.
The forthcoming installment is the third movie in the series and it is entitled xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Vin did not star in the second 2005 flick xXx: State of the Union, with Ice Cube and Samuel L. Jackson taking on the lead roles instead.
There is a lot of buzz around who will be starring with Vin in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.
In 2014 he reached out to Dark Horse singer Katy Perry online, suggesting she could be the perfect person to play the object of his affection in the forthcoming feature.
And she was incredibly enthusiastic about the prospect.
“As you know, the new xXx script finally comes in next month… and just this morning people are suggesting Katy Perry as the new X girl…(sic)” Vin posted on his Facebook page.
Vin Diesel has confirmed to xXx fans “the time to return has come”.
